Line-up 2026: Markus Reiterberger returns to EuroMoto (IDM) championship with his former team

Markus Reiterberger

Markus Reiterberger (GER), four-time IDM Champion, returns to the EuroMoto (IDM) Championship with the Masteroil – Alpha – Van Zon – BMW team. His comeback is a major boost for a series that continues to grow in strength and popularity. The last time Reiterberger contested a full IDM season, he claimed the title in 2022. He also made a guest appearance in Masteroil’s instantly recognisable black-and-yellow colours in 2024 at Schleiz. Now back with Werner Daemen’s BMW Motorrad supported team, the aim is clear: more trophies for the trophy room.

For 2026, the team’s pit box is packed with firepower. Hannes Soomer (EST) is back on board and will once again be a championship contender, having shown his capabilities last year. Jan Mohr (AT) returns to the team, while Milan Merckelbagh (NL) continues for another season, aiming to build on a solid and promising debut year with the team in 2025.

The 2026 EuroMoto (IDM) season will feature seven rounds at circuits including Sachsenring (GER), Oschersleben (GER), Assen (NL), Most (CZ), Nürburgring (GER) and Hockenheimring (GER). Newly added to the calendar is the legendary World Championship venue in Brno (CZ).

The Masteroil – Alpha – Van Zon – BMW team structure and sponsor lineup will remain almost identical to last season. As a nine-time IDM Superbike Champion team, often referred to as “the champion maker”, the team’s goal is clear once again for 2026: Let’s make more champions.

Reactions:

Werner Daemen (Masteroil – Alpha – Van Zon – BMW team manager):

“I’m very happy to work with Markus in EuroMoto (IDM) again, the whole team is looking forward to it. I’m also very proud and happy to continue working with Hannes, who I also consider a title contender in 2026. Jan has dealt with some bad injuries in his career, but I’m expecting to see him on the podium and it’s great to have him back. Milan had a good year last year, and we’re looking forward to see him improve and grow with the team. One of my wishes for 2026, is that the organisers will make technical regulations that will allow our BMW Motorrad M1000RR to compete on an even playfield with the other manufacturers. I would also like to add that we had a great experience with Tati Mercado in 2025, and we wish him all the best with YART in endurance racing.”

Markus Reiterberger (Masteroil – Alpha – Van Zon – BMW rider):

“I’m very happy and thankful to Werner, the team, everyone involved, and BMW for giving me another opportunity to race in Euro Moto (IDM). At the moment, Euro Moto (IDM) seems more competitive, which actually makes it even more exciting for me to fight. There were years when IDM was less competitive, and wins came more easily. But now it’s really tough, so it’s a new challenge for me.

In 2025, the regulations in IDM were not as favorable as we had hoped for BMW motorcycles. With the change to the European Championship, we hope the rules will allow us to be more competitive again. My goal for 2026 is clear: to win another championship title. I believe this is also why Werner and the team asked me to race again.

I want to thank everyone, especially the team. My friend Werner is no longer a manager or team boss, he is and has has been a friend for many years. And BMW: for me, it’s now 14 years together. For 2026, I had another good offer to switch brands, but BMW truly supported me, and I hope we can continue our partnership for many more years. 2026 marks the start of year 15.”

Hannes Soomer (Masteroil – Alpha – Van Zon – BMW rider):

“For me the goal in 2026 is to achieve what we missed this year – win the championship. Last year I enjoyed working with the team a lot, it’s a big team but it feels like home. My preparation until now has been better than last year as I was recovering from a surgery, so I really hope I can deliver the team the championship. Working together with Markus, will be fun as I know him from EWC and I believe we can work well together and have a successful year.”

Jan Mohr (Masteroil – Alpha – Van Zon – BMW rider):

I’m very happy to be a part of this amazing team again in 2026 and I want to thank everyone who helped make this possible. I’m looking forward to the start of the season and want to enjoy it as much as I can. Our goal is to fight for podium positions next year. The level in this championship is very high, so we need to be focused, push hard, but also be patient. “

Milan Merckelbagh (Masteroil – Alpha – Van Zon – BMW rider):

“I am very excited to be riding with Werner again. Last year I set some goals to compete in the top 5 and try to take a podium. I didn’t meet my goals, but I did improve myself a lot on all tracks. I would say that the overall level of the IDM Superbike class in 2025 was even higher than in previous years. The teamwork was absolutely great last season, and everyone got along very well.”
