New entry for the IDM-BMW-Team for 2020

We have already announced the first rider for the 2020 line-up in the IDM International German Championship this week. But Team Manager Werner Daemen not only signed a contract with the IDM Champion of 2019, Ilya Mikhalchik, in Jerez de la Frontera, but also got another rider on the boat of the German Championship 2020.

With Vladimir Leonov, another experienced and fast rider joins the IDM BMW team. The 32-year-old Russian is no stranger to motorcycle racing. In 2009 and 2010 he rode in the middle-class of the Motorcycle World Championship and had in recent years both inserts in the Endurance World Championship, as well as in the Supersport and Superbike World Championships. Also Leonov participated in the Spanish Superbike Championship in Jerez de la Frontera and finished the races one and two with the tenth and ninth place both inside the top ten.

Werner Daemen, Team Manager:

“Of course I’m glad to have another strong rider in our team with Vladimir. He was able to show that he races at a high level in Jerez. We have agreed for the next season in the IDM. In the coming days there will be more news about the team structure for 2020. We are very pleased that we will soon have some more exciting news about the team appearance in the next season.“

Vladimir Leonov:

“I am really happy that in 2020 I will be part of the IDM – International German Championship. The alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW Team has proven in recent years that they are the best and I’m really looking forward to work with them. I’m also looking forward to the BMW S 1000 RR bike, which will also be brand new to me. I’ve already tested the bike and immediately had a good feeling. The team works at a very high level and I already feel well with my new crew. I can hardly wait for the start of the new season! “
